Village Rockstars to open SIFFCY

New Delhi Dec 4 (IANS) Director Rima Das "Village Rockstars" will be the opening film of the forthcoming third edition of the Smile International Film Festival for Children and Youth (SIFFCY).

The film festival which will take place here at the Siri Fort Auditorium from December 11-17 will feature over 100 films -- across feature non-feature shorts documentaries and children s films -- from more than 30 countries.

Some of the movies that will be screened this year include "Cloud boy" "Junod" and "Glasses".

"This edition is going to treat the audience with recent hand-picked quality films with assortment of various topics starting from gender equality environment family values friendship aspirations dream self-confidence and importance of education from across the globe " Jitendra Mishra Festival Director - SIFFCY said in a statement.

"We have designed this very special programme by travelling around the world and pushing boundaries so that we shall bring the best of world cinema for our local children and youth " Mishra added.

This edition will have a special focus on Dutch cinema for which 10 Dutch films have been curated and will be presented by Gert Herman from the European Children s Film Association.

"SIFFCY plays an important role to sensitise children and youth through the medium of infotainment and create a lasting impact in their minds " said Santanu Mishra Executive Trustee of Smile Foundation and Chairman SIFFCY.
