Hitchcock’s Psycho for GPC screening

Guwahati: Alfred Hitchcock’s all time great movie Psycho will be screened at Guwahati Press Club on next Saturday (2 June) for the benefit of its member-journalists. Produced & directed by Hitchcock, the psychological horror film has music by Bernard Herrmann and cinematography by John L Russell. The casts include Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, Vera Miles, John Gavin, Martin Balsam, John McIntire etc. The 1960 black and white movie is based on a novel by Robert Bloch.
The film centers on the encounter between a secretary, who ends up at a secluded motel after stealing money from her employer, and the motel's disturbed owner-manager and its aftermath. Psycho is considered as one of best movies by the American film maker.
Earlier Krzysztof Kieślowski’s A Short Film About Killing was screened at the press club on last Friday. Carrying a strong message against the capital punishment practiced by different nations (including India), the feature film was released in 1988. The extraordinary film was originally made for Polish television. It was even instrumental in the abolition of death penalties in Poland.-Window To News
