Virtual Reality still in early stages of development in India

New Delhi June 12 (IANS) Director Gayatri Parameswaran who has come up with a new Virtual Reality (VR) short film Kya Yahi Pyar Hai says that the VR technology is still at a nascent stage and will take time to garner footfalls in India.

VR is still in very early stages of development in India. The expensive nature of equipment and the way content is distributed is still a barrier Parameswaran told IANS.

That s why with ‘Kya Yahi Pyar Hai we wanted to reach people where they are -- we have installations in public places such as Metro stations. In this moment it s really important to expose people to VR experiences and the market will grow symbiotically.

It s just the technology. I wouldn t be so worried about lagging behind at this moment. The industry is still in its formative stages and India is a huge market so it will come and we ll have to be patient but proactive she added.

Kya Yahi Pyar Hai is an initiative by Love Matters India. The film which is part of a campaign to create awareness about Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) will be screened in Delhi and Mumbai starting from June 17 onwards.

The film is expected to generate awareness against controlling relationships that are seen and understood by the young people as caring ones reiterated by the popular Bollywood culture.
