Yoko may get songwriting credit on Lennon s Imagine
New York June 15 (IANS) Yoko Ono who was married to late singer John Lennon is expected to be given credit as co-writer of the iconic song Imagine.
At the annual meeting of the National Music Publishers Association here on Wednesday Yoko and Sean Ono Lennon received the organization s new Centennial Song award for the Beatles star s legendary 1971 song Imagine.
NMPA CEO David Israelite showed a video from 1980 wherein John said Yoko deserved a songwriting credit for Imagine because of her influence and inspiration. Israelite announced that Yoko s name will be added to the song as a co-writer reports variety.com.
Israelite noted that there may be some opposition to the move at some point.
