Karu will touch upon the issue of abortion: Director Vijay

Chennai Sep 25 (IANS) Filmmaker Vijay says his upcoming Tamil-Telugu horror drama "Karu" which features Sai Pallavi in the lead will talk about the sensitive topic of abortion.

"The film focuses on the bond between a mother and her four-year-old daughter. Sai Pallavi plays the mother. The film touches upon the rarely spoken about issue of abortion. I can t say anything more at the moment " Vijay told IANS.

The film marks the Tamil debut of Sai Pallavi best known for starring in Malayalam films "Premama and "Kali".

On signing her Vijay said: "Ever since I saw Premam and Kali I knew she could pull off this intense role. In Karu she has done a phenomenal job and audiences are going to love her."

The film which has been titled "Kanam" in Telugu also stars Naga Shaurya.

"Karu" is currently in post-production.

Meanwhile Vijay has announced he reunites with Prabhudheva for a yet-untitled Tamil project.

Remaining tight-lipped about the genre of the project he said it will be an interesting film.

The duo had worked together in last year s Tamil horror hit "Devi".
