Hayes had emergency surgery for small intestine

Los Angeles Oct 26 (IANS) Actor Sean Hayes is recovering after undergoing a surgery for his small intestine.

The "Will & Grace" star went public with his recent hospitalisation during an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" which aired on Wednesday reports hollywood.com.

He said he had to pull out of his previously scheduled interview earlier this month (October 17) because of the medical emergency.

"I went to bed at night and all of a sudden I felt this excruciating pain in my stomach " he said.

"So I went to the ER (emergency room)… and thank God I did. I had a very rare thing where my small intestine burst open and it was poisoning my body. So they went in there and they clipped off the bad part and put it back together with like a chip clip (packaging clip) " Hayes jokingly added.

"Will & Grace" Season 9 airs in India on Comedy Central.
