A high Fat diet that is becoming popular for weight loss

WTN- Most people who are willing to lose weight fast have been talking about ketogenic diet. It has become one of the most popular diets around and a lot of people are now starting to switch over to ketogenic diet.
The ketogenic diet is a high fat, low carb and moderate protein diet. Many individuals have experienced success on ketogenic diet in regards to weight and fat loss. It is also referred to as different names – keto diet, low carb diet, low carb high fat diet.

On this diet , the concept is to forces the body to burn fats rather than carbohydrates. So, the carbohydrate food sources are restricted to bare minimum.

On a carbohydrate diet, body produces glucose and insulin. Glucose is the easy for body to convert and use as energy. By lowering the intake of carbohydrate, the body is induced into a state known as ketosis as the source of energy becomes fat and not the Carbohydrate .

Ketosis is the state of burning ketones as fuel as compared to glucose fuel. To be in state of Ketosis, the  carbohydrates diet is reduced to less than 50 grams per day. The more restrictive one is on carbohydrates (less than 15g per day), better are the results.

Macros for the keto diet can vary from plan to plan but one can expect to have anywhere from 60 to 75 percent of calories from fat sometimes even more. Then 15 to 30 percent of calories comes from protein, and 5 to 10 percent of calories coming from carbohydrates. The most common recommended ketogenic macro split is 20 percent protein 75 percent fat and only 5 percent carbohydrates.

Some of good sources of healthy fats are – Avocados, Whole Eggs, Fish, Chia Seeds, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Peanut Butter, Salmon, Flaxseed, Almonds,  Walnuts, Olives and others.
