Govt. warns Whatsapp over circulation of fake news, ask to find ways

To stop Fake News, Whatsapp start testing new feature restrict message forwarding limit to 5 user
July 20 (WTN) After the Central Government's strict stance on Fake News and rumors, Whatsapp has begun testing new features. Whatsapp said in a blog post on Friday that any message, photo or video will be forwarded to only 5 users or 5 chat groups at a time when it comes to this feature. There is also a proposal to remove the forward button from the messaging app. There is no restriction on the number of messages forwarded so far.
Whatsapp Fake News Verification Tool 'Verificado' is based on Artificial Intelligence Technology which scan message closely and filters the provocative, violent and fake content. Nearly before two months 28 people died due to mob violence due to Fake News and rumors spread over Whatsapp all over the country.

According to the reports that Whatsapp is planning to use its Fake News Verification Tool 'Verificado' in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram assembly elections to be held later this year. After this, it will also be used in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections so that the impact of Fake News on voting is not affected.
