Princess Eugenie marries Jack Brooksbank, chose a backless dress to show her surgery scar

WTN- Princess Eugenie, who had surgery to treat Scoliosis as a child, deliberately chose a wedding dress that would show the scar to spread awareness of the condition and encourage the acceptance of scars. She had major surgery on her back to treat a curvature of the spine at the age of 12.

Scoliosis is a medical condition in which a person's spine has a sideways curve.The curve is usually "S"- or "C"-shaped. In some, the degree of curve is stable, while in others, it increases over time. Mild scoliosis does not typically cause problems, while severe cases can interfere with breathing.

Her dress had been designed to show the scar from her scoliosis treatment as a child. Princess Eugenie’s Wedding dress has been designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos.

"I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it's really special to stand up for that." she said.

Princess Eugenie chose a wedding dress that showed her scar and it's so inspiring to me. I went under the same surgery and even though no one has ever seen my scar, it makes me really insecure and I feel judged when I know I shouldn't feel that way. Ever.

Princess Eugenie's wedding dress IS important.
It's brought a little bit of a tear to my eye & given me goosebumps.
Having scoliosis myself EVERY DAY I think about what I wear & how to hide my condition. In my eyes, her showing her scar on her wedding day is so commendable.
