Four killed, two rescued in J&K avalanche (Lead)
Srinagar Jan 6 (IANS) Four bodies were recovered and two people were rescued after an avalanche struck Jammu and Kashmir s Kupwara district police said on Saturday.
"Four bodies comprising a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) engineer and three civilians have been recovered so far. Rescue operations are still going on " a police officer said.
The avalanche which occurred on Friday evening in Sadhna Top area of Tangdhar region hit a car from where a child was rescued while the other six passengers were reported missing.
The search teams also rescued a 50-year-old local late Friday.
The BRO engineer has been identified as Mangla Prasad Singh.
