Freezing cold in Punjab, Haryana; Narnaul coldest at 2.5

Chandigarh, Dec 26 (IANS) Cold wave with dense fog continued in Punjab and Haryana on Thursday, and Narnaul in Haryana was the coldest in the region with a low of 2.5 degrees Celsius.Even the maximum temperature hovering around six-nine notches was below average at most places in both the states, including Chandigarh.The India Meteorological Office here said most parts of Haryana and Punjab were engulfed by a thick blanket of fog in the morning.Chandigarh saw a low of 6.5 degrees Celsius, a slight fall from Wednesday's 6.9 degree temperature.Hisar in Haryana recorded a low of 3.3 degrees.In Punjab, Bathinda saw a low of four degree Celsius, while it was 6.6 degrees in Ludhiana and 4.6 degrees in the holy city of Amritsar.A meteorological department official told IANS that the biting cold weather conditions were likely to continue in the region till December 30.
