Kolkata July 6 (IANS) Heavy rain lashed the city since Thursday morning throwing the city traffic out of gear in many areas during the office hour the weather office here said.

Rainfall of 1.8 mm was recorded on Thursday and more rain is expected over the next two days said the regional India Meteorological Department office.

The city will experience minimum two spells of rains every day for the next two days while the maximum and minimum temperatures will be 30 degrees and 27 degrees Celsius said an IMD officer.

Busy arterial stretches like Moulali Crossing and S.N. Banerjee Road were affected the most during afternoon as vehicles moved at snail s pace.

Though the city s traffic control officials said there was no waterlogging pedestrians complained of inundation of many streets in South Kolkata.

Because of the rains there is water in every street and puddle and electric wires are lying around increasing the risk of electrocution said Shyna a college student.
