Death Valley of California suffers hottest July in century

Los Angeles Aug 4 (IANS) The Death Valley located between California and Nevada states broke its 100-year-old record of the average temperature in July.



"The average monthly temperature for Death Valley in July was 41.9 degrees Celsius. This breaks the previous record of 41.8 degrees Celsius in 1917. July was the hottest month ever " Xinhua news agency cited the national park as tweeting on Wednesday.

The average daytime high in the valley was 48.7 degrees Celsius Meteorologist Alex Boothe said.

The Death Valley is one of the hottest places in the world at the height of summer.

It clocked the highest temperature ever recorded at 56.7 degrees Celsius on July 10 1913.
