According to WHO report, 54 million deaths globally since year 2000

Tuberculosis commonly known as TB is disease globally leading cause of deaths. TB is an infectious disease usually caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). Tuberculosis generally affects the lungs, but can also affect other parts of the body. In the beginning, if its symptoms are ignored, then this disease can be deadly. This disease of contagious lungs and then slowly begins to spread the infection throughout the body.
According to a recent report of World Health Organization (WHO), ten million people got infected with TB last year of which 27 percent are from India.
Global efforts have averted an estimated 54 million tuberculosis deaths since 2000, but it remains the deadliest infectious disease.

WHO Global Tuberculosis Report, 2018 indicates that according to estimates in the year 2017, 10 million people got affected globally with TB in which were 5.8 million men, 3.2 million women and one million children. There are two-thirds of the total numbers of patients comes from 8 countries. it includes 27% in India, 9% in China, 8% in Indonesia, 6% in the Philippines, 5% in Pakistan, 4% both in Nigeria and Bangladesh and and 3% in South Africa.
The report also reveals that nearly 4000 people dies everyday globally due to TB. This is the 10th-largest cause of deaths from all over the world.
