WCD event showcases talent of children from child care homes

Tuesday - November 27, 2018 4:50 pm , Category : HEALTH
New Delhi, Nov 27 (IANS) With a view to provide a platform to the underprivileged children living in different child care institutions (CCIs) run by government across the country, the Women and Child Development Ministry has organised an event titled "Hausla 2018".
More than 600 children coming from 18 states are taking part in the four-day event that kicked off in the national capital on Monday and will conclude on November 29. They will engage in different activities like painting, competition, athletics meet, football, chess competition, speech writing and others.
"The event aims at providing these children coming from remote and urban spaces to showcase their talent. Compared to last year, this edition has been organised on a larger scale with more children. Previous year we saw many talents who have been given many benefits by the government and this year also we are hoping for the same," WCD Secretary Rakesh Srivastava told IANS.
The Ministry informed that currently there are around 8,000 CCIs across the country and the event will give a scope to the children to interact with each other.
"This year, we are also focusing on giving these children knowledge and information on child sex abuse, the difference between 'good touch' and 'bad touch' and make them aware of their rights," Srivastava added.
