WTN- The Delhi High Court recently set aside a Central Government order restraining private companies from manufacturing and selling oxytocin drug. Government of India had curbed on the production and sale of growth hormone oxytocin from July 1, 2018 with the contention that it can be misused heavily in enhancing puberty among child victims of sex trafficking and boosting the growth of vegetables and fruits. The government restricted to only one public sector company, Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited (KAPL).
Oxytocin was discovered by Henry Dale in 1906. Its molecular structure was determined in 1952.
