13 more Covid deaths, 1,734 new cases in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Aug 9 (IANS) As many as 1,734 new coronavirus cases were reported along with 13 COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours in Odisha, taking its case tally to 45,927 and death toll due to the disease to 272, the Health Department said on Sunday.Six new deaths were reported in Ganjam district, two in Koraput district and one each in Balasore, Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Bargarh, and Nayagarh district.The number of active corona cases in the state now is 15,365 since 30,241 patients have recovered so far.Khordha district reported the highest 342 new cases, followed by Ganjam (222), Cuttack (177), Sundargarh (126), and Nayagarh (106).Of the new cases, 1,075 were detected in quarantine centres while 659 are local contact cases.
