96-year-old freedom fighter defeats Covid in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 7 (IANS) A 96-year-old freedom fighter has defeated Covid-19 in Odisha. Loknath Nayak, who was under treatment at the SUM Covid Hospital here, has recovered from the deadly disease.
Nayak, who tested positive for the novel coronavirus on September 29, was admitted to the private hospital on the same day after complaining of fever, weakness and breathing problem.
He was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday.
After joining the freedom movement in his younger days, Nayak later retired as a government official.
He was diagnosed with Covid-19 and also had underlying co-morbidities including Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and diabetes.
"The treatment I received was beyond my expectation. The doctors and nurses treated me with much care and compassion. I am grateful to them," said Nayak.
Meanwhile, the total Covid-19 positive cases in the state rose to 2,40,998 while the death toll has climbed to 958.
A total of 2,10,217 people have recovered so far.
