Andhra records 1k more Covid cases, tally 8.4 lakh

Amaravati, Nov 9 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh has registered 1,392 new Covid infections, increasing the state's tally to 8.44 lakh, even as 1,549 more recoveries outnumbered new cases on Monday.East Godavari district accounted for the highest number of cases, 341, in the past 24 hours, followed by West Godavari (243), Guntur (116), Chittoor (105), Kadapa (100), Anantapur (84), Nellore (76), Krishna (75), Prakasam (66), Vizianagaram (61), Srikakulam (47), Visakhapatnam (42) and Kurnool (36).With the new additions, Guntur's tally is inching towards the 70,000-mark while Kurnool's is close to the 60,000-mark.East Godavari continues to shoulder the highest number of cases at 1.18 lakh.Meanwhile, 11 more patients succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths to 6,802.Chittoor continues to be the district which has witnessed the highest number of Covid deaths at 796.However, the southern state is consistently recording an impressive number of recoveries everyday.On Monday 1,549 more patients recovered from the disease to outnumber fresh cases and increase the total recoveries to 8.16 lakh.Of the 8.4 lakh cases, active cases currently stand at 21,235.
