HC dismisses plea against Delhi govt order banning Chhath Pooja celebrations

New Delhi, Nov 18 (IANS) The Delhi High Court on Wednesday declined to entertain a plea challenging Delhi Government's order prohibiting Chhath Pooja at public places and ghats in view of Covid-19 pandemic.The order was passed over a petition filed by Shri Durga Jan Seva Trust inter alia seeking permission to hold a gathering of 1,000 people for the pooja on November 20."It appears that the Petitioner is not alive to the Covid-19 situation," a division bench of the high court presided over by Justices Hima Kohli and Subramonioum Prasad said, while dismissing the petition.It also said: "The petition is dismissed as being meritless."
