Ivory Coast holds workshop to deal with TB

Abidjan May 16 (IANS/MAP) Twenty doctors and nurses participated in a training workshop on preventive activities and promotional campaigns against tuberculosis in Ivory Coast s capital Yamoussoukro.

The session focussed on improving the knowledge and skills of participants on traditional medicine use of the reference manual on tuberculosis and the collection and management of data involved in TB control according to the report on Tuesday.

Initiated in collaboration with the National Programme for the Promotion of Traditional Medicine (PNPMT) and the National Programme for Tuberculosis Control the training workshop is funded by the Global Fund and implemented by Alliance Côte d Ivoire.

With a view to reduce the TB mortality rate by 20 per cent by 2020 an extensive community programme of Alliance Côte d Ivoire is developing activities to increase the reporting of all forms of tuberculosis with a view to achieve a therapeutic success rate of at least 86 per cent in 2017.
