Fire breaks out at Bhanpur garbage dumping site in Bhopal

Bhopal, March 28 (WTN) ; With the rise in mercury, Bhanpur garbage dumping site in Bhopal caught fire today and has became hazardous for residents in Bhanpur and nearby area.
On January 31 this year poisonous smoke coming out of the, Bhanpur garbage dumping had created a havoc in the area with many people complaining about of health issues including a cough, heavy breathing, skin ailments, burning sensation in eyes and chest to the toxic air . The pollution level had gone to the level that the nearby educational institutes had to declare a holiday on that day. Even after that Bhopal Municipal Corporation has not taken concrete steps to control environmental hazards of Bhanpur landfill.
Although the garbage is dumped to new dump site Adampur Chhawni instead of Bhanpur garbage dumping site, the Bhanpur garbage dumping site has not been cleared of the debris. The residents of nearby areas including Bhanpur, Raslakhedi, Khejda, Pipliya, Mahauli, Polua, Atal Nehru Nagar, People's campus, Shiv Nagar, Kalyan Nagar, Kararia, Karondh, residents,and patients at BMHRC and Minal Residency are facing hazardous impacts.
Bhanpur garbage dumping site in Bhopal makes mockery of “Clean Bhopal” drive. It’s high time that Bhopal Municipal Corporation takes a serious note and clear the entire debris of Bhanpur garbage dumping site as soon as possible.
