You will be eagerly awaiting for the Cricket World Cup to be played in England next year, and if you are a cricket fan then you would also like to keep a record of each match of India. But did you know that date of India's first match in the world cup has been changed. If you do not know, then we tell you that when India will play its first match and what is the reason behind changing the date.
India will play its first match against South Africa on June 4 instead of June 2. The date has been changed due to the recommendation of the Lodha Committee. The Lodha committee had recommended to BCCI that the mandatory difference between the IPL and the international match would be 15 days. Cricket World Cup will be played on England soil between May 30 and July 14 next year.
According to BCCI sources, “The 2019 IPL will be played between March 29 and May 19. But we need to maintain a 15-day gap and World Cup starts on May 30. Therefore as per 15 days gap, we could have only played on June 5. Earlier, we were scheduled to start on June 2 but we couldn’t have played on that day,”
The 2019 World Cup will not be played at the group stage and will be played on the round robin system in which every team will play one other, before that the 1992 World Cup was played on this basis. In the 2019 World Cup, only 10 teams are taking part in place of 14 or 12, which will play one match one other, after playing to one other the top four teams will reach in the semi-finals.
The names of the 10 teams to be playing in World Cup Cricket next year are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka. The matches of this world cup will be played in England and Wales.
