Date postponed to GPS and panic buttons mandatory in public transport vehicles.

Wednesday - April 25, 2018 12:42 pm , Category : WTN SPECIAL

For your safety, the time for applying GPS and Panic buttons for public transport vehicles has increased once again. Ministry of Road and Transport has fixed April 1, 2019 for new deadline. Although the government had clarified some time ago that its deadline will not be increased. Let's tell you why the government has increased its deadline and what is the whole issue.

In its last year's order, the Ministry of Road and Transport had said that all public transport vehicles such as taxi and bus for passengers, it is mandatory to have a GPS installed from April 2018. This decision was taken according to the safety of the passengers. Not only that, it was said in the order that a panic button should also be installed in these vehicles so that help can be sought at the time of trouble.

According to the instruction, the responsibility of putting a GPS in these public transport vehicles will be on the State Transport Department. The advantage of Panic Button is that if a traveler presses this alert button, then the alert will be reached in both the Transport Department and the Police Control Room, so any kind of action can be done immediately.

The biggest reason behind putting GPS and panic buttons in public transport vehicles was the safety of women. If a woman feels insecure in public transport, then she can press the panic button, which will alert to the transport department and the police control room and then the action will be taken. With the introduction of GPS in public transport vehicles, the police will be able to track these vehicles. In such a critical situation, passengers will be given immediate help in any trouble.

According to the information, the mandatory requirement for setting up GPS and Panic Button was in April 2018, for which all states were told in January 2018 that GPS and Panic Buttons in public transport vehicles running in their states would be available till April 2018. But due to the shortage of time and not working right in this direction, the operation of the GPS and Panic buttons could not be done even after April. These states have requested to increase the deadline, after which the states have now been told to follow these instructions till April next year.
