Ayurveda : The future medical system
The technology today has revolutionized our lives. There are more opportunities for progress and prosperity than before. The pace of life has increased now. More and more tools and techniques have been developed which help us work faster than before.
In health sector modern technology has invented most modern diagnostic tools, tests and formulations which can diagnose diseases at minutest levels, and start the curing process without loss of time.
All this is for good health and happiness. But still we find more anxiety and stress, agonies and miseries in our lives. This means either we are going in wrong direction or we are not getting on the root cause of the problem.
We know that health is not only the absence of disease or physical discomforts. It is complete state of balance at the level of body, mind and soul. While the modern medical world offers us solutions for various ailments which, in fact, are disturbing the mind and soul.
When the mind is disturbed and there are imbalances in our body organs and systems, the only and right solution is India’s oldest system of medicine called Ayurveda.
Ayurveda is the ‘knowledge of Life’ which is defined as a combination of body, mind, sense and soul. Each one of us has a body, mind and soul but we hardly know anything about them. It is like driving a vehicle without knowing the traffic rules. This may cause fatal accidents.
This is what exactly is happening in our lives. We do not know the rules of good living. We do not know what to eat, when to eat, how to eat, when to sleep, how much rest to take. The solution is Ayurveda. Ayurveda is a patient-orientated system of healing.
Today we are not suffering only from various diseases which are not limited to body alone. We are also suffering at mental and emotional levels. To this end we find that Ayurveda is the only medical system, which not only treats the human body but also deals with mind, emotions and soul.
Ayurveda is not limited only to “oil massage, churan and chatnies”, as most people think. It offers solutions at every level of body and mind. Most medical systems like homeopathy, naturopathy, allopathy and Yoga, has a root in Ayurveda. which is the “mother” of all medical and science systems.
It is a form of lifestyle adopted to maintain perfect balance and harmony within human existence. It offers a unique blend of science and philosophy that balances the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual components necessary for holistic health.
According to Ayurveda, life represents a combination of soul, mind, body and senses. It revolves around the Panchamahabhutas (five elements) that constitute an individuals nature or Prakriti. This nature is determined by the vital balance of three physical and three mental energies (Vata, Pitta and Kapha and -Sattva, Rajas and Tamas).
According to Ayurveda, living in harmony with nature and according to natural principles ensures complete physical health and peace of mind.
However, modern life often violates the principles of natural living. In the hulla-balloo of modern life, we work long hours in offices with artificial light and air conditioning.
We don’t have peaceful time to take breakfast, lunch and dinner. Children are seen taking their food in front of TV. We rush from one mundane task to another while being bombarded with advertising and constant noise, and absorbing air, water and noise pollution.
Living naturally according to some simple principles can prevent the need for expensive medical treatment or needless suffering from weak and feeble conditions.
What can Ayurveda do for us:
An Ayurvedic health cure is a preventive measure for the preservation of durable health up to the old age.
It cleanses the body and is appropriate for well being during post-convalescence and recuperation from acute or chronic illnesses.
Consequences of Ayurveda treatment are clear eyes, a refined skin tone, a robust nervous system, revitalisation and regeneration with an increased zest for life.
In Ayurvedic treatment hundreds of plant-based medicines and dairy products are only used.
It is cheaper than the allopathic treatment. -WTN
