May1 (WTN)-The month of May is named after the Greek goddess Maia, goddess of growth/spring. For long time now, people of Europe and some parts of America have celebrated May Day as a springtime festival by giving and wearing flowers, enjoying music, feasting and dancing around a maypole. Dances, singing, and cake are usually part of the festivities.
May Day was chosen as the date for International Workers' Day, also known as Labour Day or Workers' Day in some countries.
Today, the employees of McDonald employees at Manchester went on a strike demanding £10/hr and to secure decent pay and working conditions & trade union recognition for all McDonalds’ workers.
