Decision to impose cess on sugar postponed.

MAY 04(WTN) - In an important meeting held in Delhi, GST Council has taken a big decision. Under this, the traders will have to file a single GST report only; the return will have to be filed in one month. Not only this, the GST Council has postponed the decision to impose cess on sugar. According to sources, many states have opposed the cess on sugar. The decision on exemption on digital transaction has also been given to the Group of Ministers.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said after the meeting that the change in GSTN structure was considered in the council meeting. GST Council approved the government's share of 100% in this company. Now GSTN will be a government company. Earlier, the news came that the government was going to impose cess on sugar to offset sugarcane farmers. There were reports that cess of Rs 3 per kg can be applied on sugar. Through this cess, the government had a plan to raise Rs. 1540 crore.The important meeting of the GST Council was held in Delhi today. This meeting was chaired by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
