Husband beaten by wife- Indore tops in complaints, followed by Bhopal

May 5 (WTN)- Incidents of domestic violence are not uncommon. Reports of bride tortured dowry, husband beat wife in influence of alcohol etc. are very common. One of the reasons for incidents is the orthodox mindset of the society that women are physically and emotionally weaker than the males.
Although, women today have proved themselves in almost every field of life affirming that they are not less than men, the reports of violence against men have also increased.
State level complaints on Dial 100 helpline in MP has at an average 13 husbands beaten up by wife in Bhopal each month. From January to April, 52 cases of husbands beaten up by spouse have been registered.
These statistics came to light when Dial 100 team created a new category of “ beaten husband event”. Earlier, any husband’s complaint was registered in “Domestic violence” and segregation was not done between husband and wife complaint, because it was considered that domestic violence is always against women.
From January 2018, 772 complaints were registered under “ beaten husband event”. Indore tops the complaint list with 74 complaints followed by Bhopal which has 52 complaints.
In last four months, 22,000 wives have registered complaints of domestic violence in state of Madhya Pradesh. Again, Indore tops the complaint list with 2115 complaints followed by Bhopal which has 1546 complaints. Other cities where good numbers of complaints have been registered are Jabalpur, Gwalior and Chindwara.
As the awareness of Dial 100 has grown among the citizens of MP, nearly 25000 calls are received each day, out of which 6000 are genuine, rest are either not genuine or blank calls.
Dial 100 registers complaints in 291 categories including family issues, dowry harassment, theft etc.
