MAY 07(WTN) - The Indian Supreme Court has given an important decision, saying that the former Chief Ministers in Uttar Pradesh will no longer get the government bungalow. While hearing a public interest petition today, the Supreme Court ruled. In the Samajwadi Party's government, the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had made a law, according to which provision was made that former chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh should be given government bungalow. The same law was challenged by a PIL in which the Supreme Court overturned the law of Akhilesh Yadav while hearing the case. After the Supreme Court's decision, now Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati, Rajnath Singh and Kalyan Singh have to vacate the government bungalow allotted in the state.

A bench headed by Justice Ranjan Gogoi said that the amendment in the law is beyond the constitutional jurisdiction as it violates the right to equality provided under the Constitution.
