MAY 21(WTN) - Petrol and diesel prices have become highest since last few years in the country. Petrol has become costlier by two rupees per liter. Whereas, diesel has become costlier by Rs 1.89 per liter. It is believed that the price of petrol and diesel is increasing due to the rise in the crude oil prices in the international market for nearly four weeks. It is being said that the prices of crude oil may increase in the coming days.

Due to the different local taxes in every state, prices of petrol and diesel are different there. For your information, let you know that the blocking of price fluctuations before the Karnataka elections ended on May 14 and since then the prices have continued rising in eight days so far. Besides the rising in the crude oil prices, the rupee weakness against the dollar is also a factor of the rising in the oil prices.

Prolonged rising prices of petrol and diesel are increasing inflation. Diesel being costlier directly affects inflation. Diesel is mostly used in transport vehicles and the increasing in the diesel prices directly increases the freight rate, which leads to the increase in the prices of daily commodities.

The cost of petrol and diesel had not increased during the Karnataka elections, but after the Karnataka election, increasing in the price of petrol and diesel affecting the people’s budget. From last eight days the cost of petrol has been increased two rupees per liter and diesel 1.89 rupees per liter. But a few days ago, the government had clarified that the excise duty will not be reduced on petrol and diesel.
