Demand for Lingayat deputy chief minister in Karnataka.
MAY 21(WTN) - Everybody is keen to see the new government to be formed in Karnataka. After the resignation of BJP's B.S.Yeddyurappa as chief minister, Kumaraswamy can take oath as chief minister of Karnataka on May 23. No party has grabbed full majority in the Karnataka assembly election. The BJP emerged as the largest party by winning 104 seats.
After the result of Karnataka assembly election, Karnataka governor Vajubhai Vaala invited B.S.Yeddyurappa to form the government, but before the BJP government could prove its majority, chief minister B.S.Yeddyurappa resigned from his post. The Congress has won 78 seats after the BJP, but Congress has supported JDS's Kumaraswamy to be the chief minister of Karnataka.
Kumaraswamy will take oath as the chief minister of Karnataka on May 23, but it is believed that the friendship between the Congress and the JDS is being seen apparently, according to sources, there are differences between the two parties on the inside. On the day of counting, Congress had announced that it would support JDS to form government in Karnataka, in which Kumaraswamy would be the chief minister, decision was taken to keep the BJP away from power.
It is said there may be two deputy chief ministers in Karnataka. Dalit Congress leader Parmeshwar may be the deputy chief minister in the Karnataka government. It is also said that there may be a Lingayat deputy chief minister. Because the Lingayat community has ascendancy in the politics of Karnataka. If there would not be any Lingayat deputy chief minister in Karnataka, so both Congress and JDA would have to face problem in Loksabha election. According to sources, Kumaraswamy has cleared that there is no agreement between Congress and JDS for 30-30 month’s chief ministership post. As far as about the ministers in Congress and JDS coalition government, there may be total 34 ministers, out of whom 20 ministers may belong to Congress and 14 ministers of JDS.
There will be a common minimum program for the Congress and JDS coalition government. In the Karnataka assembly election, Congress and JDS had contested against each other but both the parties have come together to keep the BJP away from the power. But this is interesting, how much harmony exists between both the parties and for how long the government of coalition runs.
