India objects Pakistan’s ‘illegal move’ in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Pakistan wants to change the status of Gilgit-Baltistan.

MAY 28 (WTN) - India and Pakistan have once again come face-to-face on the issue of Gilgit-Baltistan. India has objected to Islamabad's order in which it has been announced to implement a ‘reform package’ in this area. India has summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Syed Haider Shah and has expressed strong objection to Islamabad's order in the Gilgit-Baltistan issue. For your information, Gilgit-Baltistan is part of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry said that "It has been clearly stated that on the basis of the conception of 1947, the entire Jammu and Kashmir, including the so-called Gilgit-Baltistan, is an integral part of India. By forcefully and illegally occupying, Pakistan does not have any legal basis to take any action to change the status of any part of the state and it is totally unacceptable. Instead of changing the status of acquired areas, Pakistan should immediately remove illegal occupation from all the areas."

Indeed, on Sunday, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi announced the implementation of a reform package for Gilgit-Baltistan. There was considerable resistance to this improvement package. Members of the local assembly strongly opposed this reform package. Referring to the 31st constitution amendment, Abbasi said that the parliament of Pakistan has passed a constitutional amendment bill ending the power of the President to empower the tribal region and its people.

According to an ordinance issued by Pakistan, the judicial, constitutional and administrative rights of the Gilgit Baltistan region have been handed over to the Pakistani PM. It means that now Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, can change any law in this area or apply a new law. It is believed that Pakistan's move could be a conspiracy to declare Gilgit-Baltistan as the fifth province of Pakistan. India has strongly objected that Jammu and Kashmir, including PoK, is a part of India. Although Pakistan, rejecting the objection of India, said,” Jammu and Kashmir and PoK are considered disputed areas."
