Nipah virus has become dangerous.
MAY 28(WTN) - Due to the spread of Nipah virus in Kerala, there has been a profound effect on the export of fruits and vegetables of Kerala. So far 14 people have died from Nipah virus. Considering the danger of Nipah virus, export of fruits and vegetables have also been banned from Kerala to abroad. The WHO claims that the Nipah virus is spread through the salivary, urine and excretion of the bats. Especially through those fruits which bats often eat on the tree.
According to information from the sources, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain have banned fruits and vegetables exported from Kerala in view of the risk of Nipah virus. Explaining the danger of Nipah virus, the fruits, having been banned, are bananas, mangoes and grapes. Apart from this, the export of dates is also prohibited. In addition, vegetables have also been banned. After banning export due to the Nipah virus, the commerce ministry is keeping a watch on this matter.
According to the information, last year, fruits of total 4448.08 crore were exported from India. It contains mostly mango, grapes, banana and pomegranate. India is the largest producer of banana. The countries, which have exported the huge amount of fruits and vegetables from India, are UAE, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Nepal, UK, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Qatar.
