Public indignation on petrol and diesel price.

MAY 31(WTN) - Ups and downs in the prices of petrol and diesel in the country is continuing. Yesterday, there was botheration in public on the central government due to ‘balky joke’ as deduction of one paise per liter in petrol price. Public thinks that deduction of one paise per liter in petrol was a ‘bad joke’. There is a continuous increase in prices of petrol and diesel. Today the petrol decreases seven paise per liter and diesel five paise per liter. If prices of petrol increase every day, it may be possibly that in the beginning of July, petrol will be selling in Rs.100 per liter in the country.

After public indignation on deduction of one paise per liter in petrol, the petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan himself had to come forward and clarify it. Due to the opposition and the public furor, the central government made it clear that the oil companies determine prices of petrol and diesel. There is no role of government in price determination. The government's argument is that the taxes levied on petrol and diesel being used in the development work in the country and for many welfare schemes. If tax on petrol and diesel is reduced, then development work and welfare schemes will be affected.

For your information, let you know that since last year, the price of petrol is evaluated by the market daily. Due to the rising petrol and diesel prices daily, there is pressure on the government to reduce excise duty. But there is no such indication from the government that government is going to reduce excise duty. The government says effort of reducing the prices of petrol and diesel and to give relief to the general public is its priority. “The government is also worried about petrol and diesel price, and wants to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel and to reduce the price GST may also be an option.” says government.

Here, in Kerala, the price of petrol and diesel will be cut by a rupee per liter. After this step, Kerala, which has reduced the cost of petrol and diesel, has become the first state in the country. Kerala chief minister P.Vijayan has said that the state government has decided to reduce the one rupee per liter in petrol and diesel. These deductions will be applicable in entire Kerala state from June 1.

According to the information, the center and the state government charge about 40 rupees as tax on one liter petrol. The public is tumultuous by the rising prices of petrol and diesel everyday that either the government should reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel or bring them under the GST. If the Modi government does not immediately control the rising prices of petrol and diesel, the BJP may have to suffer in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh assembly elections.
