Jokihat by-election: Tejaswi defeats Nitish!
MAY 31 (WTN) - Is the result of Bihar's Jokihat by-election ‘jeopardy’ to chief minister Nitish Kumar? Nitish Kumar's party JDU has been defeated in the by poll by the RJD. It is being said that in the Jokihat by-election, Tejaswi Yadav defeated Nitish Kumar. In Jokihat bypoll, RJD candidate Shahnawaz Alam defeated Murshid Alam(JDU) by a margin of 41,224 votes.
Jokihat assembly by-election was ‘prestige point’ for Nitish Kumar, but by winning the Jokihat assembly by-election, RJD has failed Nitish Kumar’s ‘schema’. Prior to the election, Jokihat assembly by-election had been changed as ‘fight of reputation’ between Nitish Kumar versus RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav instead JDU versus RJD. In the absence of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejaswi Yadav held the party's front in Jokihat and finally got the victory.
Jokihat assembly by-election defeat is a big blow to Nitish Kumar. Since becoming chief minister in 2005, Nitish Kumar's party JDU has been winning Jokihat assembly seat for four consecutive terms. But this time JDU had to face defeat. It is being said that Nitish Kumar's decision, leaving the ‘MAHAGATHBANDHAN’ and joining with BJP last year, is not liked by Muslim voters, this was also seen in the Araria Loksabha by-election two months ago, and where JDU had to face defeat and RJD candidate Sarfaraz Alam had won.
At the same time, Jokihat by-election victory is a great achievement for the RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav. Tejaswi Yadav has proved himself in the absence of his father. He first won the Arriya Loksabha by-election and now victory in Jokihat by-election. Now it is necessary to see whether Nitish Kumar will accompany the BJP in the next Loksabha election or to contest ‘alone’ so as Muslim voters would not be angry.
