World Environment Day celebrated at People’s University, Bhopal

Bhopal (WTN)- “Beat Plastic Pollution” as the theme for this year’s edition of World Environment Day was celebrated at People’s University, Bhopal. Sangeeta Danny of MP Pollution Control Board was the guest on this occassion.
Every year the world uses 500 billion plastic bags and least 8 million tonnes of plastic end up in the oceans each year. In the last decade, the world produced more plastic than in the whole last century. 50 percent of the plastic humans use is single-use or disposable.

Contributing its bit towards conserving of fast-deteriorating natural environment, plantation of saplings was done by the students and staff of People’s University on the occasion of World Environment Day. Tree Plantation was done by Sangeeta Danny, Dr V K Pandya-Director Academics People’s University, Head of Institutes, Dr Neerja Mallik-Registrar People’s University and NCC Cadets.
Sangeeta Danny gave expert tips for conserving the environment and effects of global warming. She also motivated the students of university not to use plastic.
