Vijay Mallya soon to be extradited in India
JUNE 16 (WTN) - India's famous industrialist Vijay Mallya has ordered by a UK court to repay about 200,000 pounds to a bank in India. Britain's court judge Andrew Hanshaw had refused to overturn a global order to surrender Vijay Mallya's property last month. Not so much Vijay Mallya has suffered another shock. The UK court has upheld the system of the Indian court, in which the groups of 13 banks led by State Bank of India have the right to recover approximately 1.145 billion pounds from Mallya.
In its order, the UK court asked Mallya to pay the cost of the worldwide attachment order in the UK and registration of Karnataka Recovery Tribunal (DRT) in the registration item. According to the information, the court has ordered Mallya to pay the cost of the bank. It is being said that if the concerned party does not agree with the amount to be paid, then the court will assess it. State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Corporation Bank, Federal Bank, IDBI Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Punjab and Sind Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of Mysore, UCO Bank, United Bank of India and JM Financial Asset Reconstruction Company Limited had filed case against the Vijay Mallya.
The cost of assessment by the court is a separate process which will end with other court hearing before the special judge (cost). But in the meantime, Mallya must pay 200,000 pounds for legal costs accountability. For your information, that Vijay Mallya is fighting extradition case in India for fraud and money laundering of Rs. 9,000 crore rupees.
According to the information, Vijay Mallya has returned to the Westminster Magistrates' Court in London for the final hearing of his extradition case last month. Vijay Mallya is on bail after his arrest on extradition warrants in April last year. It is believed that Mallya could be extradited in India soon. Here, lawyers of Vijay Mallya say that criminal charges against Mallya are motivated by no facts and politics. Mallya's lawyers also questioned the human rights issue on Arthur Road prison conditions in Mumbai because if Mallya extradition to India, he would be kept in Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail.
