‘Do or die’ situation before 2019's election for Rahul Gandhi
JUNE 19 (WTN) - Rahul Gandhi is celebrating his 48th birthday today. In front of the Congress President Rahul Gandhi, there are many challenges that he has to face in the coming year. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the Congress party could win only 44 seats. On the basis of 2014 Lok Sabha election result, the Congress party, which has ruled the country for the longest time, is going through its worst phase.
Ten years, between 2004 and 2014, UPA ruled the country in which Congress was the largest party and Dr.Manmohan Singh (Congress) was the Prime Minister of the country. But during the UPA’s ten years of rule, there were many allegations of corruption on government, after which the Congress had to face defeat badly in the 2014 Lok Sabha election. You can say Modi wave or anti-Congress wave, Congress could won just 44 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha election. After the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the ‘bad days’ of Congress seems to have started.
After the defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the Congress had to face defeat in many assembly elections. The condition is this today that Congress has its own government only in Punjab, Mizoram and Puducherry, and then in Karnataka, it is running a coalition government with JDS, where there is no Chief Minister of Congress even after having more seats in coalition. After the defeat of the Congress in one by one assembly elections, questions on Rahul Gandhi's leadership began to arise.
Rahul Gandhi has ‘inherited politics’. Rahul's father, grandmother and grandmother's father had been all prime ministers. At the same time, his mother Sonia Gandhi was the national president of the Congress for many years. This is the biggest pressure on Rahul Gandhi to bring back the ‘good days’ of Congress. It is not that Rahul Gandhi does not work hard, but at the moment, due to the BJP wave, the Congress is facing defeat everywhere.
The first challenge of Rahul Gandhi is to create ‘confidence’ among his workers that the Congress party's defeat is going on, but it will stop, and again the Congress party will win and get power. After the continuous defeat of the Congress, many big party leaders left the Congress. In such a situation, Rahul Gandhi should try that first of all, he will win confidence from his leaders and activists that victory will definitely be there.
The next big challenge in front of Rahul Gandhi is to get back his vote bank. Muslims, Dalits and Adivasis used to be Congress's ‘trusted vote bank’ at a time. But the Congressional vote bank has been taken on behalf of the other parties which the Congress had to suffer. With the help of this vote bank, Congress has ruled the country for years, but nowadays this vote bank is looking annoyed, then Congress should not be imagined to win without this vote bank. Rahul Gandhi should do his best to get his vote bank back.
The BJP has succeeded in proving itself through its ‘publicity mechanism’ that Congress is ‘anti-Hindu’ party. In front of Rahul Gandhi, this is also a big challenge, how will he prove to the public that the Congress is not ‘anti-Hindu’. It can be said that some decisions of Congress party and Congress leaders such statements look many times that Congress is ‘anti-Hindu’ party. In such a situation, Rahul Gandhi needs to remove the ‘anti-Hindu’ image of the Congress.
Many statements of Rahul Gandhi have been raised as big issues by the BJP many times. During his speeches Rahul Gandhi should take great care of what he is saying after all. Because the BJP’s ‘publicity mechanism’ is always ready to catch Rahul Gandhi's mistakes. In such a situation Rahul Gandhi should learn a lot from his grandmother how to respond to ‘opposition attacks."
Though there are many challenges in front of Rahul Gandhi, but another major challenge is that if the anti-BJP alliance is formed in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, will the rest of the parties consider him as the Prime Ministerial candidate? But it does not seem so. Many leaders of opposition parties consider themselves as prime ministerial candidate. Anyway, the Congress's performance has been quite bad in the last few months, so it does not seem that all the opposition parties will consider Rahul Gandhi as their leader.
There are many challenges before the 2019 Lok Sabha election in front of Rahul Gandhi, and he has to face these challenges ‘alone’. It is necessary to see that in such pressure, Rahul Gandhi is able to handle himself or he will straggle. There is ‘do or die’ situation in 2019's election for Rahul Gandhi. If the Congress party can’t return to power in Delhi after this election, then it will be considered as the defeat of Rahul Gandhi.
