Police wants 'limited use' of Aadhaar for investigation

Friday - June 22, 2018 12:50 pm , Category : WTN SPECIAL

Good suggestion but privacy should never be leaked

JUNE 22 (WTN) - Through the Aadhaar card, the Modi government has added many beneficial schemes and banking system. Now the data of the Aadhaar can be shared with the police to investigate the case as well as to capture the criminals and identify unknown dead bodies. According to union home minister Hansraj Ahir, the central government will consider this. Ahir said that suggestions of sharing the information related to the Aadhaar and approving the amendments in the prisoner identification act will be discussed in the ministry. Ahir has given this information in the 19th All India Conference of Finger Print Bureau directors.

These suggestions were given by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) director Ish Kumar. Commenting on Kumar's suggestion, the minister said, "It will be very important that we will try it." Ish Kumar said that in the country about 50 lakh cases of crime are registered in India every year, in most of these cases the culprit is new. These people leave marks of their finger, whose police have no records. According to Kumar, 'The Aadhaar details should be provided to the police for investigation, hence there is a need to give limited access to the premises so that we can catch them.' Ish Kumar said that about 40 thousand unknown bodies are recovered every year. They can be found when the Aadhaar data is available and then the bodies can be handed over to their families.

Director of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Ish Kumar has given a very good suggestion to the central government. If this is implemented then the police will be very comfortable in the inventions. Attempts to implicate innocent people, by matching finger print from the Aadhaar, will be stopped. Also, the identities of the dead bodies found in thousands of people will also be identified.

But for your information, let you know that the case of the Aadhaar is currently going on in the Supreme Court. It is believed that the central government can keep its vote in the Supreme Court about this utility of the Aadhaar. But the information of the Aadhaar should not be misused; its responsibility will be entirely of the government and the police. The accusation of the loss of privacy of people has been a matter; due to this the government will have to give assurances that there is no harm in the privacy of anybody in assessing the limit of Aadhaar with police
