Congress may keep distance from Saifuddin Soz's book release

JUNE 25 (WTN) -
As you know, the statement of Jammu and Kashmir Congress leader Saifuddin Soz on Kashmir is being widely criticized. Let you know that Saifuddin Soz had supported former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's statement in which he (Pervez Musharraf) had said that the people of Kashmir would neither like to go with Pakistan nor with India, they would want to be independent. On this statement of the Soz, the BJP has firmly targeted the Congress. After that the Congress is seen on ‘back foot’. While today, Saifuddin Soz's book, ‘Kashmir: Glimpses of History and the Story of Struggle’ is to be released, but as per media reports, now the Congress Party is ‘making distance’ from this program.

For your information, let you know that former finance minister P. Chidambaram had to visit as a guest to participate in the discussion during the release of the book, but as per media sources, he will not go. Significantly, after the controversy over the statement of Soz, the Congress had shunned with Soz statement. At the same time, Congress spokesman Randeep Surjewala had described his statement as a ‘gimmick’ to sell the book.

Today in the evening this book of Saifuddin Soz is to be released in New Delhi. During this program, there will be a panel discussion, including former finance minister P. Chidambaram, BJP leader Arun Shourie, senior journalist Kuldeep Nayyar and Wajahat Habibullah. But it is believed that now Chidambaram will not be in this program.

After the statement of Saifuddin Soz, the BJP targeted him. Saifuddin Soz had said that this statement, given a decade earlier by Musharraf, is still ‘correct’ in many ways. However, he also said that it is not possible to get this ‘freedom’. While Saifuddin Soz had also said, “there is no Congress party relation with his statements.”

There can be much controversy over Saifuddin Soz's book. According to information from the media, Soz has written in his book,”the number of governments since 1953 till now has made some mistake in the Kashmir issue, whether it is Nehru or Indira Gandhi's government.” In his forthcoming book, Soz, who has been a minister in the UPA government, has also emphasized that the central government should talk openly with Hurriyat leaders. It is natural to have a dispute.
