Be a man and respect woman
JUNE 26 (WTN) - In India, oppression of women is being raised increasingly. The situation is that India is the ‘most dangerous country’ in the world in terms of atrocities against women. In one survey, sexual violence and bonded wages have been referred to as the reason. Thomson Reuters Foundation releases experts survey on women issue in this regard, India has been termed as hazardous in terms of human trafficking, forcible marriage and sexual exploitation for domestic work.
Expert survey also states that the cultural traditions of the country also affect women. As a result, they have to face acid attack, baby child killing, child marriage and physical abuse. Seven years ago, in this survey, India was the fourth most dangerous country in the world in terms of women. According to the report, women in India are the most vulnerable to smuggling.
According to the survey, women are still considered an ‘object of sexual abuse’ in India. In India, 15 thousand cases of human trafficking were registered in the year 2016, of which two-thirds were women related. Half of these women were under 18 years of age. Most of the women were sold for work at home or prostitution. Parents in India still regard their daughter as burdens and seem their daughter weaker than boys. Rural girls are exploited in the name of getting jobs in big cities or getting married.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), 100 cases of sexual violence are reported daily in India. There were 39,000 alleged attacks reported against women in 2016. This figure is 12% higher than in 2015. Here, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has targeted the Modi government over this survey. He said in tweet, “While our PM tiptoes around his garden making Yoga videos, India leads Afghanistan, Syria & Saudi Arabia in rape & violence against women. What a shame for our country!”
Survey statistics are shameful to India. Increasing numbers of violence against women in India show that respect for women is decreasing in the country. It is said in the Vedas that “God resides in the place where women are respected”. But it seems that the honor of women in our country is only limited to books only. If in reality women are respected in our country then today such survey does not have to be ashamed of India.
