Amarnath yatra begins, safety and security test for Modi government

JUNE 27 (WTN) - The first batch of pilgrims for the holy Amarnath yatra today left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu in a multi-layered security circle. This first batch of Amarnath pilgrims has left from the two base camps of Kashmir from Baltal and Pahalgam. There are a total of 1904 devotees in this group.

These passengers will arrive in Ganderbal situated Baltal and Anantnag situated Nunwan and Pahalgam base camp. After reaching there, the Amarnath pilgrims will leave for the next day at the height of 3880 meters to the cave temple. In this way the Amarnath yatra will start. The end of the journey will be on the day of Raksha Bandhan on August 26.

Prior to the visit, the pilgrims were flagged off by Jammu Kashmir chief secretary BVR Subramanyam and two advisers of the Jammu and Kashmir Governor Vijay Kumar and B.B.Vyas. Vijay Kumar, advisor to the Jammu and Kashmir governor, said, "Amarnath Yatra is very important to all of us. In collaboration with the public, with all the security agencies and development agencies, we have planned a security. We are doing our utmost to overcome the concerns of the passengers and ensure smooth flow of traffic."

There is a lot of enthusiasm in pilgrims visiting Amarnath. The pilgrims have Indian national flag (tri-color) with them.
