All eyes on Kamal Nath and Akhilesh Yadav meeting
JULY 18 (WTN) - In the 2017 assembly election in UP, Congress and Samajwadi Party contested election together, but this coalition had to face defeat against BJP. But in UP, in Gorakhpur, Phulpur and Karana Lok Sabha by-election, the unified candidate of Congress, SP, BSP and other parties defeated the BJP candidate. After that, the Congress, Samajwadi Party and BSP got the formula to defeat BJP, ‘stay together and keep anti BJP votes together.
In Madhya Pradesh, away from the power for the last 15 years, Congress does not want to leave any chance to defeat the BJP this time. As you know, Congress has tied up with the BSP for the assembly election. According to information received from the sources, there has been discussion at the central level that there will be alliance with BSP on 26 seats in Madhya Pradesh assembly election. But the state Congress leaders believe that the only 14 to 16 seats are enough to give BSP in coalition.
After the alliance with BSP, there is speculation that Congress can also join hands with the Samajwadi Party. Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath is scheduled to meet with Samajwadi Party's national president Akhilesh Yadav in Bhopal on July 19. There is talk in the political corridors that Congress can make coalition with the BSP as well as the Samajwadi Party in the state so that anti-BJP votes can be united.
In Madhya Pradesh, there are about 52 percent of the backward class votes, and the number of voters of the Yadav community in the state is also much higher. In such a case, Congress is in the exercise that by coalition with the BSP and Samajwadi Party, the dalit and backward class votes will be combined.
The Samajwadi party base is not like the BSP in the Madhya Pradesh. But in many seats, the Samajwadi Party candidate gets many votes. In such a scenario, Congress is trying its best to get the Samajwadi Party to be included in the alliance so that anti-BJP votes can be prevented from being polarized.
After the BSP, the Congress coalition with the Samajwadi Party can increase the concern in the BJP. Because in the UP, Congress, SP and BSP contested together, and defeated the BJP in Gorakhpur, Phulpur and Kairana Lok Sabha by elections. If, like in Uttar Pradesh, Congress, SP and BSP contest together, then BJP will have to trust on Modi-Shah duo to win the election.
