Now, you have to pay for AC waiting room!

JULY 26 (WTN) - If you are going to travel by train having valid AC coach ticket, and your train is three hours late, then it is natural that you will sit in the AC waiting room of the railway station. But for your information, let you know that if the new rules of railways applied, then you have to pay 'charge' to stay in the AC waiting room, that too ten rupees per hour.

In the coming days, the railways are preparing to ‘charge’ ten rupees per hour for passengers staying in the AC waiting room at other stations including the Bhopal railway station. According to the information, this new rule will now be started as an experiment at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin station. If the experiment gets successful, it will also be implemented in the Bhopal division.

For your information, let you know that if you have valid AC coach ticket, then there is no charge for staying in the AC waiting room at present. But after the implementation of the new rule, there would be no charge for first hour, but after first hour, every passenger will be charged ten rupees to stay in the AC waiting room. If the passengers don’t want to stay in the AC waiting room, they can prefer normal waiting room.

This proposed new rule of railways has been started to oppose. Passengers say that the priority of the railways should be safely and timing of the train, but instead of improving timings of trains, the railways is looking for new ways to increase revenue. If the trains run on time, passengers do not have to wait in the waiting room. Travelers say that the proposed rule of railways shows 'dictatorship'.

For your information, let you know that according to the official data of the railways, about thirty percent of trains reached late to destination during the financial year 2017-18. From April 2017 to March 2018, the punctuality rate the trains is only 71.39 percent. In 2016-17, the rate was 76.69 percent. Punctuality rate decrease by five percent in 2017-18 compared to 2016-17.

On the question of trains’ being late, the railways said that due to the maintenance of the track, this had happened. But many question rise, when 30 percent of the trains in the country reaches late to destination. So why do the passengers suffer? Probably the railways don’t have answer of this question. First, railways should run the trains on time, after that they have right to charge in the AC waiting room.
