The differences between fat and oil find in physical states
AUG 01 (WTN) - You may have heard of fat and oil many times. But do you know the difference between fat and oil? If you do not know, then we tell you what is the difference between fat and oil?
The main difference between fat and oil is that fat is usually obtained from animals, while oil is usually obtained from plants. Both fat and oil are very important for the human body. Both of these should be mainly in balanced form in daily diet.
There is also physical difference in fat and oil. Generally speaking, fat is solid at room temperature, while oil is liquid at room temperature.
In fact, both fat and oil are members of the same class. But main differences are found only in their physical states. The Glycerides that are found in the solid stage at normal temperature are called fat, and those that are found in liquid stage are called oil.
The difference between fat and oil is also done on the basis of their melting points. Glycerides that have melting above 20° C are called fat. Whereas, Glycerides that have less than 20° C are called oil.
