Lung cancer Day: Majority of non smokers are in grab of Lung Cancer

According to Survey conducted by Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on 31 women and 119 male patients, 74 out of 150 patients used to smoke, 76 never smoked
August 1 (WTN) Smoking is usually attributed to lung cancer. But according to the recent survey report, those who do not smoke also have the same risk of getting sicken, as much as those who smoked. This survey was done by chest medicines and chest surgery department of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. In the last six years, a survey of 150 patients of lung cancer found that 74 of them used to smoke, while 76 did not smoke.
Report presented by hospital in a press conference also reveals that pollution is equally responsible for the disease even with the smoking. The press conference was also addressed to patients who were living normal life after the operation of lung cancer.
For six years this survey was done on 31 women and 119 male patients. Dr. Arvind Kumar, Chairman of Chest Surgery Department said that in the survey, it was revealed that people, who do not smoke in the age group, are coming in the grip of lung cancer due to pollution. The highest lung cancer complaint is in patients between 51 and 70 years.
Chest Medicine Department, Chairman Neeraj Jain, told that if lung cancer is detected in time, treatment of is possible. A low-dose CT scan screening program has been started in the hospital. People over the age of 51 should definitely do this screening.
