‘Credibility of Congress' at stake in Madhya Pradesh assembly elections
AUG 03 (WTN) - In Madhya Pradesh, only a few months remain for the assembly elections. In such a scenario both the BJP and the Congress have been involved in formulating their own strategy. While the BJP will contest the elections on its own, the Congress, which is away from power for 15 years, can go for a coalition with BSP and SP. At this time, it is the challenge of taking the right decision in front of the Congress that they will contest alone or else they will ally with other parties.
Here, the activation of some small political parties, in Madhya Pradesh, seems to have started that all parties can contest elections together to defeat the BJP. A few days ago, the Lokkranti Sammelan held in Bhopal seems to be a part of this strategy.
Ever since the once the president of Janata Dal United and the convener of the NDA, Sharad Yadav had managed to unite the small parties. Loktrantik Janata Dal leader Sharad Yadav, who is excluded from JDU, is trying to bring together the parties whose aim is to defeat the BJP.
Veteran leader Sharad Yadav knows that neither his party nor the coalition of small parties have so much political power and status that they can beat the BJP. Therefore, these parties have invited the Congress to join their alliance to defeat the BJP.
On his old political relationship, Sharad Yadav had been successful in joining some other small parties, including the Bahujan Sangharsh Dal, the Gondwana Gantrantra Party, the CPI and the CPM. But there is no existence of these parties alliance without Congress.
If the Congress combines with these small parties along with the BSP and the SP, it can be said that it is a matter of danger to the BJP in the Assembly elections. Sharad Yadav knows that BJP can be defeated by uniting the anti-BJP votes. If polarization of anti-BJP votes is done then BJP can win again on its own.
But the biggest problem in all of these is with the Congress. If Congress contests the election on its own, then Congress is afraid of polarization of anti-BJP votes, and due to this polarization the BJP can win. At the same time, if the Congress combines with other small parties including BSP and SP, then the message will go to the voters that the Congress has morally lost to the BJP and the Congress has no power to defeat the BJP on its own.
In both circumstances, the credibility of the Congress is at stake. Now it has to be seen whether the Congress decides. Whether Congress fight alone or go for coalition. As you know, it is a decision taken by Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
Only after the decisions, taken by Rahul Gandhi in Madhya Pradesh, it will be decided how ready he is for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Because if BJP wins after the alliance with all the parties in Madhya Pradesh, then it will not be less than a shock to the possible mega alliance for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
