UPA may stand with Vandana Chavan, eyes on AIADMK, BJD and Shiv Sena's stance

AUG 07 (WTN) - Both the NDA and the UPA have approximately decided the names of their candidates for the Rajya Sabha Deputy Speaker elections. For your information, let you know that NDA has nominated Harivansh, elected for the first time, from Nitish Kumar's JDU party, for the Rajya Sabha Deputy Speaker's election. The UPA may fifgt with Nationalist Congress Party MP Vandana Chavan. But both the names are yet to be finla. Voting on August 9 for the post of Deputy Chairman, for which both the NDA and the UPA have started making strategy.

But among all this, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), which has always been a key ally of the NDA, has opposed JDU MP Harivansh. It is being said that the party wants its candidate in the election. According to information received from the media, BJP president Amit Shah has himself spoken to Shiromani Akali Dal president Prakash Singh Badal for his consent in the name of Harivansh. But it is being said that the Akali Dal may be absent during the voting of Deputy Speaker. There has been very good relations between BJP and Akali Dal for years, but for the first time, Akali Dal would not vote with NDA.

Shiromani Akali Dal has three MPs in the Rajya Sabha, on some issues Shiv Sena is also angry with the BJP. Just a few days ago, during the discussion and voting of the no-confidence motion, Shiv Sena had kept a distance in the Lok Sabha. The Shiv Sena also has three MPs in the Rajya Sabha. All want to know what Shiromani Akali Dal as well as what Shiv Sena decides.

If the Akali Dal and Shiv Sena's resentment continues like this and if both these parties would not vote for NDA, so it would be very difficult to win the election of the NDA candidate. While it is said on one side that the Akali Dal can remain absent from voting, on the other hand it is being said that due to the Marathi candidate Vandana Chavan, if she contests, the Shiv Sena can vote in the UPA's favor. If this happens then there would be trouble for NDA.

The NDA does not have majority in the Upper House, in the Rajya Sabha. Then the results will depend on the favor of parties like BJD, AIADMK, TRS and YSR Congress. It is being said that these parties can combine with the NDA with a ‘specific reason’. According to the information, 35 MPs are neutral and all will depend on their stand.

For your information, let you know that 244 MPs in the Rajya Sabha are in the position to vote now. To win any side, 123 votes are necessary. At present, the NDA has 115 seats in the Rajya Sabha and BJP has 73 seats. At the same time, the UPA has a total of 113 seats and Congress has 50 seats. Here, AIADMK has 13, JDU has 6, 6 Independents and 7 nominated MPs. There are 9 MPs of BJD.

In this way both the NDA and the UPA have a look at the AIADMK and BJD MPs. It is being said that AIADMK can cooperate with NDA, while there is nothing to be said about BJD's stand. It is being said that Sharad Pawar can get support for Vandana Chavan, if she contests, on the basis of his old relations with BJD chief Naveen Patnaik. Vandana Chavan can also get the benefit of being a woman. Now it is to see who will get whose support to be elected on August 9.
