Cases of electricity theft on 55 thousand farmers get back by government
AUG 09 (WTN) - Before the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, all parties are trying to woo farmers. Congress has promised that if Congress comes to power, then they will waive the debt of farmers'. Here the BJP is also doing its utmost to propagate the farmers. In this episode Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has taken a major decision related to the electricity of the farmers.
According to information received from the media, the Madhya Pradesh government will withdraw cases filed against the farmers in the state. An order has been issued for this purpose. It is being said that the cases of electricity theft of about 55 thousand farmers will be withdrawn.
After removing cases of theft on farmers, the state government will now pay the amount to the power companies. For this, the Department of Energy had sent a proposal to the CM Secretariat. For your information, let you know that in case of power theft, there is still a recovery of about one crore rupees.
For your information, let you know that before this, the state BJP government had announced to waive the electricity bill of about 16 lakh electricity consumers of Rs 5179 crore under the ‘Sambhal scheme’. Laborers who register under this scheme will get electricity bills at the rate of 200 rupees per month.
The BJP says that its government has done a lot for the farmers, laborers and the poor. But still the Congress is raising questions on the Shivraj Singh government in the case of waiving of power bill. Madhya Pradesh Congress President Kamal Nath says that the Shirvraj government should forgive the 14 years electricity bill of the poor instead of one year.
Waiving of electricity bill of poor can be said rational. But the government has not given a ‘good message’ by taking back the case of electricity theft. In cases of power theft, the government should show strictness and not forgive electricity theft. The government's decision will end fear of those who steal electricity, which is not a good sign.
