Digital version to be valid, no need to keep driving license, RC and insurance papers

AUG 10 (WTN) - If you travel by bike or car, then you face trouble keeping driving license, registration certificate and insurance papers. Many times you forget them at home, due to not having these documents you had to pay invoice. But the Central Government has issued an instruction for your convenience which will make your journey easier.

During driving, the driver will no longer need to keep driving license, registration certificate (RC) or insurance paper. Now you can relax by showing the digital version of these papers.

For your information, let you know the Transport Ministry has instructed the traffic police and the Transport Department of the state, citing IT Act 2000 that the documents like driving licenses, registration certificate ( RC) and insurance papers are now approved in digital form.

The digital version of these papers will be available on the digilocker and m-transport app. There will be no need to keep the vehicle's paper or driving license. All the documents would be uploaded in an app and the traffic police or the State Transport Authority will have to accept that.

This is said in an advisory issued by ministry,"The electronic records are available on digital e-transport and m-transport apps. According to the provisions of the IT Act 2000, this digital paper has been considered legally valid and should be treated as valid showing by the driver."

In this Advisory, it has been said, "Under the Motor Vehicle Act 1998, the document present in these electronic forms is issued by the Transport Authority itself. If m-transport and e-challan app have full details of the insurance policy so this is not necessary in this situation to show the papers of documents.”

For your information, let you know that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways received many complaints and applications under RTI, stating that Traffic Police or Transport Department does not consider the documents available in the dig locker or m-transport as valid, and In case of non-availability of these documents in paper form, they issue invoice.  After that this kind of advocacy has been issued. So now your traveling is going to be easy, so soon use digilocker and m-transport app.
